So, you’ve finally moved into your new home — congratulations! But now that you’re finally starting to unpack your belongings and settle into your new space, what’s the next step? You likely remembered to bring most of the essentials, but chances are, you probably got rid of some things you needed in the moving process as well. You might even find yourself in need of some items you didn’t have before. Either way, we’re here to provide some easy moving advice with a list of 7 places to look for gaps in your new home and things you should buy!

1. Kitchen Essentials

It’s likely that you probably already have a lot of kitchen appliances, dishware, and silverware packed with you. However, don’t forget about other essentials you might not have packed like dish soap, trash cans and trash bags, sponges, and necessary condiments and spices.

2. Bathroom Essentials

Bathroom essentials are very important since it’s likely that you’ll need them as soon as you arrive in your new home.

Some important bathroom essentials include toilet paper, a plunger, a bath mat, and a shower curtain.

3. Laundry Room Essentials

You probably aren’t immediately thinking about doing laundry when you arrive in your new home. Don’t forget about things like laundry detergent, hampers, and an ironing board and iron! You’ll be surprised how soon you’ll need these laundry essentials.

4. Utility Essentials

You might take things like light bulbs, fans and heaters, extension cords, and batteries for granted when you’ve lived in the same space for a while. These utility essentials will definitely come in handy!

Don’t forget to keep a flashlight on hand! You never know when you might need it.

5. Closet Essentials

If you’re moving into a new home (especially if you’re moving with several people in your household), you might be overlooking some closet essentials.

Closet essentials like storage bins, shelf organizers, hangers, and door hooks might be more necessary now than ever!

6. Bedroom Essentials

We all need a comfortable place to sleep. If you didn’t bring them already, make sure you have all bedroom basics, like a comfortable mattress, bedsheets and pillowcases, and blankets. You’ll definitely need your rest at the end of the moving process.

7. Safety Essentials

Hopefully, these won’t be necessary, but it’s a good idea to invest in some safety essentials. Safety essentials can be both small and large things.

On the small scale, it’s definitely a good idea to have a first aid kit on hand. On the larger scale, however, make sure you get your locks changed, and possibly even think about a home security system.
